The Phoenix Police Reserve program was officially formed on May 17, 1918 in accordance with Phoenix City Ordinance No. 222 - The ordinanace authorized up to 400 Reserve Police Officers.
The Reserve Division is one of the Police Department's five major divisions, which is headed by an Assistant Chief.
