The Phoenix Police Reserve program was officially formed on May 17, 1918 in accordance with Phoenix City Ordinance No. 222. The ordinance authorized up to 400 Reserve Police Officers.
The Reserve Division is one of the Police Department's five major divisions, which is headed by an Assistant Chief.
